Unwanted Guest

That was my scariest experience throughout the whole trip.

One night, when everyone was sleeping, I was suddenly awakened by some mysterious footsteps. Along with the sound, I could even feel the vibration, like a boar-sized object wandering around. While I was thinking of turning on the flashlight to see what’s up, the sound and vibration was coming closer and closer to me. Suddenly, I felt like my bed was hit by something. I even heard a low breathing sound, and the rubbing sound of the mosquito net and my backpack. I was horrified – no, we did not close the door before sleeping. I said to myself: alright, if I fall asleep, like others, probably everything would be fine?

Just at this important moment, the worst thing happened – I wanted to pee! Shit, am I going to be eaten if I move? The next morning should be just a few hours away, how about trying to sleep first?

After a few hours of painful waiting, my biological needs only became more and more urgent. The sounds were disappearing, but it doesn’t mean I was already safe. About to burst, I suddenly saw a flash of light – two heroes in my room turned their flashlights on! I told my horrible story as I rushed to the washing room. And, I didn’t know how I should feel after hearing their response.

“Actually, we too.”

It was one of the very few times that we started observing animals even before our professor, so we discovered a lot of birds that we had never seen before. Who was the unwanted guest that night? A beast? Or a thief? It remained a mystery.
